INAV is the open-source firmware for GPS navigation on fixed-wings, VTOLs and long range quads: return to home, waypoint missions, altitude and position hold, and a flight controller that flies a plane as readily as a multirotor. This page collects every flight controller in our range with an INAV target. Wing builds want a board with servo outputs, a barometer and plenty of UARTs; quad builds want the same H7 or F7 processors in a smaller footprint. All of them also run Betaflight or ArduPilot where the target exists.
How to choose an INAV flight controller
INAV uses far more sensors and ports than a racing quad, so the boards that suit it are the ones with a barometer on board, a compass or GPS port, and enough UARTs for GPS, receiver, telemetry and a video system at once.
- Processor: H743 boards run current INAV with room to spare and are the safe choice for new builds; F405 and F722 targets still work well on simpler setups.
- Wing vs multirotor boards: "Wing" boards add PWM servo outputs, a wider input range for large packs and often a BEC for servos; standard boards suit quads and small VTOLs.
- Barometer: needed for altitude hold and most navigation modes. Check it is on the board, not optional.
- Sensors: a compass (magnetometer) is optional on wings but improves position hold on multirotors; connect one through the GPS module.
What we stock
Matek's H743-WING V3 for fixed-wings and VTOLs, with the H743-Slim V4 and H743-Mini V3 for quads; iFlight's BLITZ Wing H743 and Thunder H7, plus the BLITZ Mini F4; the HAKRC F405 Wing; TBS Lucid H7; SEQURE H743 V2 and NeutronRC H7BT Mini; the Skystars F405HD Mini V2, F722 HD Pro4 and F722 Mini HD Pro; the Zerodrag STRIX H7; and the Elarion F405 30×30 stack rated for 8S. Betaflight, ArduPilot and PX4 boards have their own pages in the "Shop by spec" row below.
Compatibility
INAV needs a GPS module — u-blox M10 units are the current standard — wired to a UART, and for multirotors a compass, usually on the same module. Fixed-wing builds use the board's servo outputs directly; multirotor builds pair the FC with any DShot ESC.
Check the board's target name against INAV's release list before buying for a specific feature, and update the GPS module's firmware where the maker provides a tool.
Frequently asked questions
- INAV or ArduPilot for a fixed-wing?
- INAV is simpler to set up and shares its configurator style with Betaflight; ArduPilot has more mission and autonomy features and needs boards with more memory. Many H743 boards here run either.
- Can I run INAV on a Betaflight flight controller?
- If INAV has a target for the board, yes — most F405, F722 and H743 boards do. Boards without a barometer lose altitude hold, so check the board carries one.
- Do I need a compass for INAV?
- For a multirotor, yes — it is needed for position hold and return to home. Fixed-wings can navigate on GPS heading alone, though a compass helps at low speed.
