RHCP FPV Antennas
RHCP (right-hand circular polarised) is the default polarisation for 5.8GHz FPV: most stock VTX and goggle antennas are RHCP, and circular polarisation rejects the multipath reflections that make an analog picture tear. This page collects every RHCP antenna in our FPV Antennas range — omnidirectional lollipops and mushrooms for goggles and quads, patch antennas for range, and the connector variants (SMA, RP-SMA, MMCX, U.FL) that fit different VTXs and goggles. Both ends of the link must share the same polarisation, so match RHCP to RHCP.
How to choose an FPV antenna
An antenna decides how far and how cleanly your video reaches you, more than VTX power does. Get the connector and polarisation right, then choose between omni coverage and directional gain.
- Polarisation: RHCP is standard; LHCP exists so two pilots on nearby channels reject each other. Mixing RHCP and LHCP loses most of the signal.
- Omni vs patch: an omni (lollipop, mushroom) covers all directions at 1.5–3dBi; a patch or helical points 8–12dBi at the quad. Diversity goggles take one of each.
- Connector: SMA on most goggles and full-size VTXs, RP-SMA on some goggles, MMCX and U.FL on small VTXs and air units. Check the gender too — the antenna side is usually male.
- Length and stub: 150mm antennas clear the goggles or frame; 85–100mm antennas suit compact builds; stubby antennas trade range for durability.

Compatibility
Match the connector on your VTX or goggle module: SMA and RP-SMA look alike but do not mate. Digital systems (DJI, Walksnail, HDZero) use the same 5.8GHz band and the same connectors, so these antennas fit them too; DJI air units use MMCX or U.FL.
Mount omnis vertically and away from carbon; place a patch on the goggles pointing where you fly. Replace any antenna whose outer shell has cracked — a damaged radiating element de-tunes the whole link.
Frequently asked questions
- RHCP or LHCP?
- RHCP unless you have a reason not to. Stock antennas on VTXs and goggles are RHCP; LHCP is used to separate two pilots on adjacent channels. The VTX and goggle antennas must match.
- SMA or RP-SMA — which do my goggles need?
- Check the goggle's connector: SMA female has a hole in the centre and takes an SMA male antenna with a pin; RP-SMA female has a pin and takes an RP-SMA male antenna with a hole. Most modern goggles are SMA.
- Does a better antenna extend range more than VTX power?
- Usually. Doubling VTX power adds about 40% range; a good omni on the quad and a patch on the goggles can double it, without the heat and interference of a high-power VTX.
