20×20 FC + ESC Stacks

A 20×20 stack combines a flight controller and a 4-in-1 ESC on the 20×20mm mounting pattern, for 3, 3.5 and 4-inch quads and the growing number of 5-inch frames cut for mini stacks. This page collects every 20×20 stack in our FC + ESC Stacks range. Choose by ESC current first — 35–45A covers 3 to 4-inch builds, 55A and up is for 5-inch on 6S — then by processor and gyro, and check the stack's video-system wiring matches your air unit or VTX.

How to choose a 20×20 stack

A stack saves the wiring and mounting fuss of separate boards: the ESC plugs into the FC with a ribbon cable, and the two share a set of M2 standoffs. The compromise is heat — a 20×20 ESC has less copper than a 30×30 one, so its current rating is the number to respect.

  • ESC current: 35–45A per motor for 3–4 inch quads on 4S or 6S; 55–80A for 5-inch on 6S. Ratings are continuous; bursts are higher.
  • Processor: F405 for standard Betaflight, F722 or F745 for more UARTs and headroom, H743 for the most.
  • Gyro: MPU6000 and ICM42688 are the well-behaved choices; BMI270 is fine with current Betaflight.
  • Firmware: BLHeli_S ESCs are cheapest, BLHeli_32 and AM32 add telemetry and bidirectional DShot for RPM filtering.

Compatibility

The 20×20mm pattern uses M2 hardware; frames built for 30.5×30.5 need adapter plates, which most 5-inch frames include. Check the FC has enough UARTs for your receiver, GPS and air unit, and that the ESC's voltage range covers your pack — several here are 2–5S or 3–6S rather than universal.

Solder motor wires short and tidy: a mini ESC has small pads, and stray wire is the usual cause of a burnt FET.

Frequently asked questions

Can I use a 20×20 stack on a 5-inch quad?
Yes, if the ESC is rated for it: 55A or more per motor for 6S freestyle. Most 5-inch frames include 20×20 adapter holes or plates. A 30.5×30.5 stack runs cooler for the same rating.
What is the difference between a stack and an AIO board?
A stack is two boards, FC and 4-in-1 ESC, joined by a ribbon cable; an AIO puts both on one board. Stacks are easier to repair — a burnt ESC is replaced alone — and run cooler.
F405, F722 or H743 for a mini stack?
F405 is enough for a plain Betaflight quad. F722 or F745 gives more UARTs and processing headroom for GPS, a digital air unit and telemetry. H743 is for INAV or ArduPilot and heavy peripheral use.
