2212 Brushless Motors
4 products
2212 brushless motors have a 22mm-diameter, 12mm-tall stator — the size that powers most F450 and S500 class DIY quadcopters and 400-class trainer builds. This page collects every 2212 motor in our Motors range. Choose by KV: the 920–1000KV windings spin 1045 or 9450 props on a 3S or 4S pack and carry a camera or a GPS build, while the 2200KV winding is a smaller-prop motor for 2S–3S airframes. Buy four for a quad, and check whether the listing is a single motor or a CW/CCW pair before you order.
How to choose a 2212 motor
The KV rating (RPM per volt, unloaded) sets which prop and battery the motor wants. Lower KV with a bigger prop lifts more per watt; higher KV with a smaller prop spins up faster and suits lighter frames.
- 920–1000KV: the classic F450 pairing — 1045 props on 3S (11.1V) or 9450 props on 4S, roughly 800–900g of thrust per motor on 3S, run from a 30A ESC.
- 2200KV: for 6–7 inch props on 2S–3S; do not run it on a 1045 prop or the motor and ESC will overheat.
- Rotation: 2212 motors come in CW and CCW thread versions so the prop nut self-tightens. A quad needs two of each — some listings sell a pair, others a single motor.
- Mounting: 16×19mm bolt pattern with M3 screws, the standard on F450/S500 arms.
What we stock
A2212 1000KV and 2212 920KV motors for the 3S–4S 1045-prop builds, sold with or without bullet connectors depending on the listing, plus an A2212 6T 2200KV motor for smaller props. All fit the 16×19mm F450-style arm mount and take a 3.17mm prop adapter or the included prop nut.
Compatibility
Pair a 920–1000KV 2212 with a 30A ESC (SimonK or BLHeli), a 3S 2200mAh or 4S 1500–2200mAh pack and 1045 props. A four-motor F450 at hover draws around 3–4A per motor on 3S, so a 30A ESC has plenty of headroom for climbs. The KV printed on the bell is nominal — motors from different production runs are best flown as a matched set of four.
Frequently asked questions
- What does 2212 mean on a brushless motor?
- The stator dimensions: 22mm diameter and 12mm height. Stator size, not the outer bell, is what the number describes, which is why a 2212 is physically larger than a 2207 racing motor.
- Which prop should I use with a 2212 1000KV motor?
- 1045 (10 inch, 4.5 pitch) on a 3S battery, or 9450 on 4S. Both keep the motor within the 30A ESC range and give around 800–900g of thrust per motor.
- Do I need CW and CCW 2212 motors?
- Only if you use the self-tightening prop nuts. The motor itself spins either way — direction is set by swapping any two motor wires at the ESC. CW/CCW versions differ only in the thread on the prop shaft.
