Product details
A GPS receiver built around the u-blox NEO-6M with an on-board compass, made for Pixhawk and APM flight controllers running ArduPilot or PX4. It gives the autopilot position for Loiter, Position Hold, Return-to-Launch and waypoint missions, plus heading from the built-in magnetometer.
Key features
- u-blox NEO-6M receiver: GPS-only, 50 channels, navigation updates at up to 5 Hz
- Built-in compass, so no separate magnetometer is needed on the airframe
- Works with ArduPilot and PX4 on Pixhawk and APM boards
- Mount it on a mast, away from power leads and the ESCs, for clean compass readings
Specifications
- Receiver: u-blox NEO-6M
- Constellation: GPS (L1)
- Channels: 50
- Max update rate: 5 Hz
- Horizontal accuracy: 2.5 m CEP (chip rating)
- Cold start: 27 s (chip rating)
- Compass: HMC5983
The NEO-6M tracks GPS satellites only, so it locks more slowly and holds fewer satellites than multi-constellation M8N or M10 modules; it suits training builds, F450 kits and budget ArduPilot projects. Check that the lead matches your flight controller's GPS and I2C ports: older Pixhawk and APM boards use DF13 plugs, newer ones JST-GH, so an adapter lead may be needed.
