Product details

The Gemfan Vortex 16x12 is a two-blade, 16-inch propeller with a 12-inch pitch for large electric fixed-wing aircraft and UAVs, sold as a single prop. Compared with the 16x10, the extra pitch shifts the emphasis towards cruise and top speed, at the cost of some static thrust and a heavier load on the motor. Choose standard (E, CCW) or reverse (R, CW) rotation from the options.

Key features

  • Glass-fibre-reinforced nylon: rigid, tough and resistant to bending, so the blades hold their pitch under load.
  • Vortex airfoil: CFD-optimised blade profile with slim tips and a frosted leading edge that helps keep airflow attached at high RPM.
  • Anti-slip hub: a textured hub surface grips the prop adapter and resists slipping in flight.
  • Factory balanced: dynamically balanced for smooth, low-vibration running.
  • Adapter rings included: 6.35 mm (1/4 in) centre hole plus six rings for 3, 3.17, 4, 5, 6 and 8 mm shafts and prop adapters.

Specifications

  • Diameter: 16 in
  • Pitch: 12 in
  • Blades: 2
  • Rotation: CCW (E, standard) or CW (R, reverse)
  • Material: Glass-fibre-reinforced nylon
  • Hub diameter: 24 mm
  • Hub thickness: 14.5 mm
  • Centre hole: 6.35 mm (1/4 in)
  • Adapter rings: 3, 3.17, 4, 5, 6 and 8 mm
  • Colour: Grey
  • Pack: 1 propeller

Pick the E (CCW) prop for a conventional front-mounted tractor motor and the R (CW) prop for a pusher layout. On a twin, fit one of each with the motors spinning in opposite directions so their torque cancels. A high-pitch prop draws more current, so confirm the load with a wattmeter on the bench before the first flight.
