Product details

The Gemfan Vortex 15x12 is a two-blade, 15-inch propeller with a 12-inch pitch for electric fixed-wing aircraft, sold as a single prop. The steep pitch is aimed at fast, efficient cruise on larger airframes and needs a motor with plenty of torque to turn it, so it is a poor match for slow trainers. Choose standard (E, CCW) or reverse (R, CW) rotation from the options.

Key features

  • Tough construction: glass-fibre-reinforced nylon resists bending and impact while keeping the blade profile true under load.
  • CFD-optimised blades: slim tips reduce tip vortices and noise, and a frosted leading edge helps limit airflow separation at high RPM.
  • Secure mounting: the textured hub face grips the prop adapter so the prop does not creep under the nut.
  • Dynamically balanced: balanced at the factory to keep motor vibration low.
  • Fits common shafts: 6.35 mm (1/4 in) bore, with six adapter rings for 3, 3.17, 4, 5, 6 and 8 mm.

Specifications

  • Pitch: 12 in
  • Blades: 2
  • Rotation: CCW (E, standard) or CW (R, reverse)
  • Material: Glass-fibre-reinforced nylon
  • Hub diameter: 22 mm
  • Hub thickness: 12.4 mm
  • Centre hole: 6.35 mm (1/4 in)
  • Adapter rings: 3, 3.17, 4, 5, 6 and 8 mm
  • Weight: 46.72 g
  • Colour: Grey
  • Pack: 1 propeller

Pick the E (CCW) prop for a conventional front-mounted tractor motor and the R (CW) prop for a pusher layout. On a twin, fit one of each with the motors spinning in opposite directions so their torque cancels. A high-pitch prop draws more current, so confirm the load with a wattmeter on the bench before the first flight.
