Product details

The Gemfan Vortex 10x8 is a two-blade, 10-inch propeller with an 8-inch pitch for electric fixed-wing aircraft, supplied as a pair. With 8 inches of theoretical advance per revolution it favours cruise and top speed over static thrust, so it suits sport and speed-oriented planes rather than slow trainers. Both props in the pack are the standard-rotation E version, listed as CCW.

Key features

  • Glass-fibre-reinforced nylon: rigid, tough and resistant to bending, so the blades hold their pitch under load.
  • Vortex airfoil: CFD-optimised blade profile with slim tips and a frosted leading edge that helps keep airflow attached at high RPM.
  • Anti-slip hub: a textured hub surface grips the prop adapter and resists slipping in flight.
  • Factory balanced: dynamically balanced for smooth, low-vibration running.
  • Adapter rings included: 6.35 mm (1/4 in) centre hole plus six rings for 3, 3.17, 4, 5, 6 and 8 mm shafts and prop adapters.

Specifications

  • Diameter: 10 in
  • Pitch: 8 in
  • Blades: 2
  • Rotation: CCW (E, standard)
  • Material: Glass-fibre-reinforced nylon
  • Hub diameter: 20 mm
  • Hub thickness: 11.4 mm
  • Centre hole: 6.35 mm (1/4 in)
  • Adapter rings: 3, 3.17, 4, 5, 6 and 8 mm
  • Weight: 20.8 g per prop
  • Colour: Grey
  • Pack: 2 propellers

The E version suits a conventional front-mounted (tractor) motor; a pusher layout or the opposite motor of a counter-rotating twin needs the reverse-rotation R version. A higher-pitch prop loads the motor harder, so check current draw with a wattmeter on the bench before the first flight.
